McNEIL

Joanne Elaine McNeil (Lassesen) beloved wife of Marvin for 46 years, passed away peacefully at home in Sylvan Lake, Friday April 24, 2020. She will be forever missed by her family and friends. She is also survived by her children Ryan (Christina) McNeil and Stacey (Collin) Pacholek; 8 granddaughters Isabel, Bailey, Mackenzie, Savannah McNeil; Jasmine McDonald; Dana, Natalie, Lauren Pacholek; and 1 great grandson Sterling Hattersley. Her sisters Phyllis (Clarence) Ernst and Margaret (Lorimer) Olson; Sister in-laws Sharon (John Hill) Hallett, Lois (Don) Holloway and Bernice Lassesen; Cousin Eleanor (Clarence) Schroder; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Palmer and Irene Lassesen, and brother James Lassesen.
Joanne was born on March 7, 1944 in Medicine Hat, AB when her dad was stationed at CFB Suffield during WWII, and was raised in Buck Lake, Gladstone, Bawlf and Camrose. At the age of 3 she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, which although physically challenging, did little to alter her determination to live life her way, defying all preconceived notions from experts. She worked at Bethany in Camrose for 8 years before meeting the love of her life and getting married on November 16, 1973. She loved travelling with her husband on the pipelines, finally settling in Redcliff to raise her family. Joanne and Marvin finally retired to the place they always summered, Sylvan Lake, in the fall of 2019.
Joanne loved life, loved family, loved dancing, and all the fruits of indulgence. She adored her herd of sweet peas, who where a constant source of joy and laughter, and she was so proud of each and every one of them. Joanne will always be remembered for her incredible Viking like stubbornness; but even more so for her generous, loving and welcoming spirit. All who met her called her mom, friend, or grandma (nana).
At this time due to current circumstances, no service will be held until restrictions are lifted. In lieu of donations to charity, Joanne would have appreciated flowers

He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest,
God’s garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain,
He knew that you would never get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids and whispered “Peace be thine.”
It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.’

1993 ~ NICOLAS "NICK" HILL ~ 2020

It is with broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son and brother, Nick. He is no longer sad and confused; he was imprisoned in a “powerful darkness.” He is flying with the angels now. We find strength in knowing that he is at peace and reconnected with his grandparents in Heaven. Nick was a caring soul and he touched the lives of many people. He had a smile that would light up a room and a determination like no one else. He enjoyed inline hockey, ice hockey, and golfing. He was a loyal friend, a noble brother, a loving grandson, and a kind nephew and cousin. Nick had an admiration and a curiosity of his ancestry and the ancient world. He had a passion for reading and a passion for learning. He had an open, spiritual mind-set and was never afraid to try new things. He genuinely cared about others and was wise beyond his years. His infectious personality, his little laugh (he was all smiles), will be missed along with his unique way of making you think about life. We will miss him forever and always. Rest in P-E-A-C-E our beautiful boy. A celebration of Nick’s life will be held at a later date. In honour of Nick’s memory, donations can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 204 – 1865 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 1Z8. 1935 ~ ANNA LIPPERT ~ 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we the family of Anna Maria Lippert must say good bye. Anna past away suddenly on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the age of 84 years, beloved wife of the late Emil Lippert. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Ronnie (Norma) Lippert and Larry (Rita) Lippert; five great grandchildren, Brandie (Mark) Kruse, Ricky Lippert, Lindsay (Jay) Mellen, Regan (Maddie) Lippert and Andrea (Tyler) Stahl; five great grandchildren, Emily, Luke, Zac, Livia and Aiden; her brother, Bill (Janet) Albrecht; two sisters, Irene Nitz and Phyllis Albrecht as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Gottlieb and Lydia Albrecht and her husband Emil on November 4, 2008. Anna was born on August 18, 1935. On December 12,1952 she married the love of her life Emil Lippert. They lived with his parents for a year then moved west of Hilda to farm. After renting for four years they packed up and moved to the Burstall area. Here they built up their legacy in farming. Anna was always a firm believer in hard work. She had a love for the land and was known as dad’s shadow, wherever dad was mom was right behind him. In 1967, they made the big move, building their own home they made the move to the town of Burstall. Emil continued to farm along with his two sons and this was when Anna felt she was no longer needed as the “gopher” (go for this and go for that) and took up employment at the local post office as postmistress. Here she worked for eight years then decided this was long enough and retired. Having more time on her hands she once again picked up the job as a fourth wheel on the farm, realizing her assistance was no longer needed she finally found her place at home. Mom loved to walk, rain, snow or sleet, you were guaranteed to see mom and her group of friends out on their daily walk of the town, the Happy Walkers. At times on these walks mom would notice other people’s yards and took great interest in what was growing, if she really liked the plant she would snitch a leaf or a stem, take it home put it in water watch it sprout and voila she had her plant. Another great past time mom loved to do was sew. She was never known to buy a pattern, she would sit with the Eatons catalogue find what she liked got the material sat down and would whip that outfit up in a day or two. Lastly, mom could bake up a storm, her buns and meat pockets were the best all around. When told how good they tasted she would say “oh they’re not that good.” Anna was a very quiet, modest person. Never taking credit for her abilities or her skills. Rarely did she voice her opinion on anything, but when she did, it was well thought out and logic was always in play and you listened. In 1996, dad and mom both realized that they were no longer required for duty on the farm, they decided it was time to leave the farming to the boys and moved on up to Medicine Hat. Here they loved to travel mainly to Las Vegas. Taking the odd trip elsewhere either the two of them or with friends. After Emil past away mom sold their home and moved into Chinook and continued to go on her daily walks. When her sister Irene retired and moved into Chinook she was in her glory. She once said “after being apart for nearly 50 years we are finally together” she was so happy. These two were inseparable, they shopped together, played scrabble together, went to social functions together, everything was done together. Due to the corona virus family members were unable to be byAnna’s side, so the family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors on the fourth floor of the Medicine Hat Hospital for all their assistance, help and care that they aided in mom’s last days. Once again we thank you with our whole hearts to all that were involved in our time of helplessness. The funeral service will be held for immediate family only (due to COVID-19 restrictions) in the PATTISON Chapel on Friday, May 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. James C. Bredeson officiating and interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. ROSE PUDWELL

1930 – 2020

With heavy hearts, the family of Mrs. Rose Pudwell, beloved wife of Mr. James Frederick Pudwell, announce her passing at Masterpiece Southlands in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, on their 69th wedding anniversary. They were married in Calgary, AB., on May 12, 1951. Rose was born and raised on the farm near Fox Valley, SK., and was a devoted mother and homemaker to their seven children. Rose took pride in her home and was very meticulous and neat, so much so you probably could eat off her kitchen floor. As she would always say, “Don’t do a half ass job!” Rose loved to read, especially Danielle Steel novels. He will be terribly missed by his wife, Petra Fournier; son, Shane (Terri) Fournier and their children Jordyn and Brooklyn; son, Dustin (Christine) Fournier; daughter, Nicole Moss and her son Dainen Johnston who shared a bond like no other. His sister, Evelyn (Allen) Mcquid; and brother, Gilbert Fournier. He was an active member of the community with the Moose Lodge, Legion and UCT. Henry loved to do meat draws, play cards, play pool and a bit of golf when he was not painting lines. Henry worked for Modern Industrial Rentals for 35 years until he retired. His real passion was Fournier’s Line Painting and he took such pride in his parking lots and straight lines. Anybody who met Henry or who had worked with him never looked at parking lots the same way. He enjoyed his time with the grandchildren and was very proud of all three grandchildren and his family. A man of few words but a wonderful listener and that made you feel loved and cared for. Henry was such an animal lover so in lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Medicine Hat SPCA, 55 Southview Drive SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 8E8. A celebration of life will be held at a later date once we can all gather together. Condolences may be sent through http://www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Henry Fournier. For those lucky enough to have known her, she will always be remembered for being there with a smile, her great sense of humour, her readiness to lend a helping hand, for enjoying a good time with her friends and family, and for always stopping to say hello. A link in our family chain is missing, but our memories will always live on. Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Aunt Rosie, “Happy Rose” and Rose: Your kindness and loving ways will be missed and you will forever be loved by us all. A heartfelt thank you to Homecare and the staff at Meadow Ridge where she received her nickname “Happy Rose” and to everyone on the 2nd floor of the Good Samaritan’s. Lastly, a special thank you to the paramedics and the tireless and caring staff on 4 West of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Your compassion and kindness shown to Mom (Rose) in her final hours will never be forgotten by her family. A private graveside service was held at Hillside Cemetery on Thursday, May 14th, 2020 with Pastor Shane Hein officiating. Memorial gifts in Rose's memory may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church, 758 8 St SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 1M5 or to a Charity of your choice. 1958 ~ TONY CAIXEIRO ~ 2020

The family of Antonio “Tony” Carlos Mendes Caixeiro sadly announce his sudden passing on Thursday May 21, 2020. He will be deeply missed by his wife Karen; his children, Angelina (Matthew), Carly (Derrick) and David. He leaves his mother Fernanda Caixeiro, one brother Bill (Nicole) Caixeiro, two sisters, Vitalina (Tony) Ferreira and Laurinda (Sean) Donaghey, sister-in-law Barbara (Jeff) Braid as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Tony was born in Portugal and immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of seven, where he spent his childhood working hard on the family farm in Harrow, Ontario. After receiving his bachelor of science at the University of Western Ontario, Tony moved to Saskatoon to pursue a degree in Pharmacy at the University of Saskatchewan. Tony and Karen (Shmigelsky) were married in 1986 and in 1989 relocated to Medicine Hat to begin his career at Crestwood Pharmacy. The following thirty years were filled with raising three wonderful children and making new friends. From the moment he became a father his life revolved around his kid's education and sporting activities including coaching soccer, a sport he had loved from the earliest days of his childhood. He enjoyed planning and leading many family adventures and travels, all of which he meticulously recorded and documented, something that we will all cherish as we continue our journey. In 2005, Tony and Karen assumed ownership of Crestwood Pharmacy, where Tony continued to demonstrate his passion for serving others. His quiet demeanor and soft spoken ways were greatly appreciated by those he served and who looked to him for care and comfort. Throughout his life as a loving husband and father he showed us the importance of valuing family, integrity and always being the best version of yourself. It was just recently that Tony began to find time to enjoy many of his other passions like gardening, the culinary arts, and planning the next travel adventure. He never lost his passion for saving anything and everything with meaning or memory, and documenting important moments in life. Throughout his years in Medicine Hat his family was his life, and each and every moment with them will be forever cherished.
A private family mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 with Fr. Vijaya Bathineni officiating. Family and friends are invited to remotely attend the funeral service through live streaming on our Facebook page – Pattison Funeral Home and Crematorium.
